Creation is Life

Creation is life. Life is creation. If you are not creating then you are not living. Life force courses through your being and fuels you when you are plugged into some form of creating. You may experience it in relationships, work, fishing, gardening, energy work, or any other form that truly excites you, interests you and plugs you into life.

And, by the way, neither you nor others are necessarily qualified to judge what is a valid creation or expression of life. If you devalue gardening and yet you find it makes your heart happy and calms you, please see your judgments as the harsh criticism they are and get clear on accepting and allowing goodness into your life. You can only make a new choice of loving kindness in awareness.

Over the holidays, my father-in-law Tom, gave me a tour of his wintered plants that are stored in a tiny room off of their garage. It was an old darkroom that my husband had used for photography while growing up. I love the irony that it is now filled with lights for the plants. Now that is transformation! Tom gave me the full tour of this room that is so small once we stepped in we literally couldn’t move. I LOVED having him educate me on the origins of various plants, methods of care, etc. The plants were awesome in and of themselves, but Tom’s passionate and heartfelt tour made it all the better.

On the other hand, when people no longer have a purpose for living, a place to go, or a way to create or relate to life in a way that fuels them, they experience disconnect. In fact, depression is suppressing, repressing and denying our very nature, which is creation. When I think of the days, weeks and years I was restless and unsettled, my heart opens to compassion for my younger self who didn’t know how to live a creative life. I was busy looking outside of myself for approval, doing things I believed others wanted me to do so I could manipulate them into liking me or not abandoning and rejecting me. I didn’t realize that I was abandoning and rejecting myself. I innocently did not know who I was or what I wanted in life.

As you journey through life to find what enlivens you, you may first need to try a lot of things that don’t. I sure did. It is all good. You deserve to live. You deserve to create.
